1983 Dennis RS

My 1st preserved fire engine, Dennis RS 133 Ex West Sussex, served at East Grinstead & Burgess Hill before joining the reserve fleet. Was bought at auction by Wessex Fire Service who used it for a few years before selling her on. I bought her in 2008 when she had a London livery, now after a bit of hard graft she is back in West Sussex livery.

Stuart - you have done a great job, especially getting rid of that LFB Livery - she looks as good as new - although i don't think the lockers have original West Sussex style handles - but that is being very sad & fussy and it does not matter a bit! Look forward to seeing & hearing it again somewhere this summer.. Jon.

Would this be the ex Surry pump West Sussex bought to fill a gap due to some misshaps they had in the fleet around 1994 ish?

Shaun, this was a West Sussex appliance. The Surrey one your thinking of was I think registered FPA 550Y.

Stuart, must give my respect for the work you have done on the RS. I have admired it at a couple of Rally's and it is a credit to you. Look forward to seeing it in the south in 2010. All this sunny weather must mean we are in for a great show season.

Almost correct Pete - The ex Surrey RS that West Sussex had for a short while was YPA550Y. Jon.

Excellent job Stuart keeping alive a piece of West Sussex history. Does anyone know where Clwyd RS RDM360V is or was last seen?

Added by Andy Middleton on 09 March 2010.
Andy, supposedly only YFM675W and A758LJC still survive out of Clwyd RS appliances, the latter was in Chile and YFM was still road legal 2 months ago, where I dont know. Anyone know where as I drove her on an EFAD
