Gallant, Alabama Tele-Squirt

Found parked next to the Ivalee, Ala. VFD. 1973 Walter Motors chassis and Young Fire Apparatus body with a 50' Tele Squirt. Evidence indicates this was at one time a member of the Gasport, NY Fire Dept. The 2 boxes on the top of the cab w/ beacon rays and air horns on them are a mirror system to see if the boom is in it's proper place. An unusual truck to be found in the middle of nowhere.

TheFireman - I went and hunted this interesting rig up on the World-Wide Web[snowing again here - fending off 'Cabin Fever', it's something to do]

You have got all New York State here; Buffalo, in particular, at the western end:

Body: Young Fire Equipment Co., 1548 William St., Buffalo, New York(State) Established 1932, now shown as at Lancaster,NY - just outside Buffalo. Regional manufacturer - built all kinds of innovative and custom apparatus, including on the well-known Maxim chassis; and, also the "one-offs'" needed by smal and rural Fire Depts.

Chassis: Walter Motor Truck Co. New York(City), New York(State)- later Vorheesvlle, NY. Established 1911 - produced trucks(lorries) and truck chassis -also Airport Crash Trucks (ARFF).

Previous Fire Dept: Gasport, New York(State)- this small community is just 25 miles[40 km] outside Buffalo...

This Fire Dept. Forums Web-Site has lots of photos of the different Fire-Engines, that Young Fire Equipment Co. produced:
