Renault G170/MMB WrC Bucks G577 YFCSeptember 1990 Fire Brigade Society visit to Buckinghamshire. MMB stands for Milk Marketing Board (United Dairies) as this is an ex tanker. Just vacuum pump fitted. Carried foam as well. At one time had another axle fitted.

What was the gain, paying money to remove the second rear-axle? Road tax, Driver's Licence Level, etc. ?
Over here, the single rear-axle Fire-Truck requires only the normal car licence(Level 5) plus the 'Air-Brakes Training Module'.
However, with Dual Rear-Axles(Tandem); we are getting into serious truck-driving(lorry driving) territory; involves testing and road-test for a Level 3. Something most Volunteer Fire-fighters don't want to get into....
Level 1 is the 18-wheelers (the articulated trucks[lorries])(tractor-trailers)
