Looks like a motorway, not the best place to stop for a REST.
Hello Bristol Bob it wasnt really a rest we had a water pump problem and we were letting the old girl cool down for a bit. This was a dual carridge way called Poulner Hill we did get to Odiham and back ok just took it steady. Andy has now rebuilt the water pump.
When I drove it back from Stantons never missed a beat. See you've done a lot of top work to her as she had a very unusual ladder and bell arrangement for the low pipework in the steelworks. As previously mentioned she went to Paris and back. Great run, but my ears!
Hello Colin YBR 612 is my friends Fire Engine Andrew Bryer did he buy it off you with a trailer pump.Well didnt know shes has been to Paris and back.It is still in very good condition and lives under cover in Dorset i agree know what you mean about in her on a long journey well thats all the fun of it .
Ive owned lots of F8s, about five actually, but the Stanton YRB was the best mechanically I ever bought. She was New to Stanton works direct from Dennis. I bought her directly from Stanton and Staverly Sheffield, by then British Steel. She ran many years as the Kent and East Sussexs railways main fire appliance as we used to have lots of line side fires. Shes had lots of adventures on telly and films. Eventually I sold her to a local airfield near Ashford Kent where she lived for quite a while. I last saw her featured in a classic car mag about a dealers site that specialised in commercial classics. The article was about six or seven pages with lots of nice colour piccys. Look after her as I have lots of fond memories.
Hello Colin i remember buying a photo of YRB at a fire show of it parked next to another F8 at a preserved steam railway thats why it was there then thanks. What did YBR appear on TV do you know.Andy bought her up country way as we are from Dorset.Im sure she was first in service with Nottingham Fire Service briefly before Stanton has her.
