Pacesetter

Another picture of a pacesetter this one was at Derby Fire Show back in 2007. it is believed to be the Merseyside one.from information i have from other ex members of Merseyside like my self if have been told that even though the brigade were involved with it concept they never actualy had the appliance in the fleet. It went back to Loughbrough after a couple of weeks and was never seen again on Merseyside.

This was the prototype Pacesetter - its more 'angular' in its cab finish than the Fire Service College one also shown recently it had a Detroit diesel engine - and sounded fantastic

I worked at Chubb Fire Vehicles around the time the Pacesetters were built. It was great to find some survived.

The Scotish registration makes me wonder whether this might have been the one that went to ICI Stevenston.

A unique appliance which if embraced in its day could have changed the way our fire fighting machines look today. Does anyone have any information on how many of these entered active service in the UK and where they were based? Also were they equipped similarly to other vehicles of the era, and how long did they stay in service?

Cheers, MB3
