The number plate for a start is wrong. Looking through my lists of Lincolnshire and judging by the ladder on top my suspicions are that this is Pump salvage tender VDO 600, Austin FGK Carmichael from 1962. According to my lists this served at Boston Fire station with the Holland county Fire brigade. In the 1974 list it has it listed still at Boston as a reserve appliance capable of carrying out the roll of pump, salvage tender and Rescue tender.

If anyone has any more solid information on this please can they share and thanks Petros for posting this, one I havn't seen before.

The only information I can find on this type of appliance was from the Carmichael"The Family Years"publication from the Fire Brigade Society published in 2004 about appliances produced,or had bodybuilds by Carmichael & Sons(Worcester)Ltd.
It appears that three of these were delivered to Lincolnshire,2 in 1963,and another in 1965.The vehicle registered VDO 600 was classed as a P/ST(pump/salvage tender)and maybe this one also. This picture shows the appliance(C-Reg)being the one from 1965 and was one of 2 that were body builds by Morris.Carmichael did the bodywork to VDO 600 delivered in 1963,the other two,one delivered in 1963 and this one delivered in 1965 had Morris bodywork.

Having carried out a little bit more research on this appliance, and the other 2 that operated with the Holland County Fire Brigade(Lincolnshire)back in the 1960's this is what I've found.
The one registered-VDO 600 was a 1963 Austin FGK/Carmichael and was classed as a E/S/T(Emergency/Salvage Tender. This later in life become a(RAV)Road Accident Vehicle.
The one registered-XDO 545 was a 1963 Austin FGK/Carmichael and was classed as a P/RT Salv/T(Pump/Rescue Tender/Salvage Tender). This one again in later life also become a(RAV)Road Accident Vehicle.
The last of the 3 was registered-CJL 999C and was a 1965 Austin FGK/Morris/Carmichael and was again classed as a P/RT Salv/T(Pump/Rescue Tender/Salvage Tender. This appliance(CJL 999C)as Rick Loudon mensions was later in life donated to the Fire Services National Museum Trust at Weedon in Northamptonshire.

I visited Spalding FS on their open day about three or four years ago, and there was a picture of this particular appliance (CJL999C) at Spalding in the early 70's. The reason it sticks in my mind is that they also had a 1965 Bedford TK/Carmichael Pump Escape reg no. CJL666C.
