AEC TGM4R Mercury/Merryweather 100' TLDidn't I have a wonderful time the day I went to Bangor. Armed with a new SLR camera and chicken paste butties I went to workshops in Bangor on Februaru 114th 1985. On the run, EJC870F was allocated to Bangor in 1967 to replace the penultimate war-time appliance in Caernarfonshire. GXN 224 Austin K4/Merryweather 60' hand operated TL was then allocated to Pwllheli for a short time after. GXN 224 was then aquired by Portmadoc crews who's intention was to restore her to her former glory, but unfortunately GXN was towed away from Portmadoc on a low loader some years ago, no doubt the Hoo Ray Henries at the HSE and PC advised them. Answers on a postcard to Cloud Cookoo Land please. The final war-time appliance to be replaced in Caernarfonshire was Austin K4/Home Office PE GXM 108 at Portmadoc who had Commer Vac/HCB-Angus WrE FCC 66F allocated.
EJC was famously photographed rescuing an unconsious patient who had been preped for surgery at the old Caernarfonshire and Anglesey Hospital on Holyhead Road. Morrison's occupies the site now. She carried a light featherweight pump behind the cab and was replaced at Bangor in 1988 by a Renault-Dodge G16/Carmichael/Magirus DL30u TL E199XJC. As time went on, E199XJC was replaced last year by a Scania P310/Angloco/Bronto F32RL ALP PN58ZUZ.
