York multi coloured 1975

York City FB went yellow but you can also see the white Bedford TK and the reds as this is after the creation of North Yorkshire. All these appliances feature individually on this site.

Pity we can't see the passers-bys' faces. I would guess they were pretty confused by all the variety of colours, styles and different nameplates.

Perhaps York still had a Green Goddess at the time, just to add a lttle more colour to the mix, but it was probably hidden around the back!

Or, perhaps the AFS had already been disbanded?

In the US we are very familiar with fire departments running all kinds of colour schemes, but usually each department or company has everything the same. A similar situation to York occurred when the five fire companies in Glen Cove, New York, were consolidated into one station. We got five engines, one ladder and two rescues: Three white over red units, one silver over red, one white over yellow (slime), one silver over blue and two solid white with a red stripe.
