Dennis F28 Water tenderThis picture was taken by Bristol Bob and is published with his permission. It shows Dennis F28 Water tender 19FYD at a fire in the mid seventies at a pub called the Battleaxes in Wraxhall, North Somerset. The machine was originally on the run with Somerset Fire Brigade stationed from 1960 to 1974 at Station B8 Shepton Mallet. When the County of Avon Fire Brigade was formed in 1974 incorporating a number of former Somerset stations, the appliance was transferred by Somerset Fire Brigade to Nailsea just prior to the change over to County of Avon FIre Brigade. Funnily enough around the same time just before Avon was formed, Somerset made a number of appliance moves with the majority of the older appliances in their fleet being transferred to stations that were going to become part of Avon Fire Brigade. The appliance still exists but is in need of an extensive restoration if it going to be saved.
