Berliet GLB, hose layer and water gun, no pump.
My all time favourite in my station, served from 1954 to 1985. Was a monster and strong, like they used to built things in the 50'.
Than was left somewhere to rot...so sad

What is the open area for behind the cab, I can see what looks like a tire.

There were benches for boarding three or four additional firefighters when necessary. Especially if the truck was going to intervene in reinforcement on large fires. This configuration was very common in rural France until mid-1980.
