Fire Engines Photos

7407 AT the AEC Mercury TL finished its service at Scunthorpe after replacing the ex Goole TL AEC EWR 749C, it was last seen - ( no longer there )as a childrens playground attraction in Mapperly Nottingham in the 1990's - MRH 146F was given to the Fire Services National Museum and I believe is shortly to be disposed of, - it requires substantial work but is saveable

Oh, for the good old days, these appliances were polished with pride and looked like Fire Engines
Returned after many years retired, what a muck hole !Old lads would turn in their graves ?Have some very nice photos of simular,---dont know how to get them on computers.

Thanks for the info, Tony. I wish I had the resources to take it on- I absolutely loved that PE as a kid as it was identical to the Dinky model which I had. I later modified it to have roller shutter locker doors and put the escape ladder from the Dinky ERF on it! My father made me a model fire station and my grandfather (Station Officer in Hull until 1968) asked me what my "first engine" was- I said "that one"!!

I remember Ken Jessop (your grandad ?) with great fondness,-a nice fellow and a bloody good Fireman always good to be riding with. Think I have a picture of him in the drill yyard when we were all playing Volley ball, I!ll try AND FIND IT . i Left to go on the Fireboat and then later years into the Ambulance Service for 25yrs but they were happy days at Central----would get the sack now for the many thinga we all got up to, Cheers, Tony

Please, Please, Please. Kingston-upon-Hull to give her, her correct title. Yes one of my favourite cities behind Liverpool and the M62 now connecting them. Both cities recieve their fair share of media crap. Folk want to live and work in them living and working with locals. Yes Scottie Road and Holderness Road were the aorta's of both cities untill despot Thatcher did what Adolf could not. Anyway, does anyone know if the Commer QX/Creuden ET is still around.

Humberside Fire Brigade is one of the few areas of the area's Transport History that hasn't been covered at all (to my knowledge) so I think Mr Jessop, you had better start writing. Humberside also had a large AEC Emergency Tender, and another which was a control unit. Does anyone know what happened to either of theose two?
