1935 Leyland TLM/Metz 104ft Turntable Ladder.

1935 Leyland TLM/Metz 104ft Turntable Ladder.

This 1935 Leyland TLM/Metz 104ft Turntable Ladder (reg-BOF 389)was new to the City of Birmingham and spent its whole life at the Central Fire Station in Lancaster Circus before going out of service and being disposed of in 1961.
I photographed this 1935 Leyland/Metz on a couple of accasions during the late 1970's,early 80's when it was in preservation, but I've not seen it now for many years.Does anyone know if its still in preservation today?.
I'd like to thank Ian Moore for his assistance on recognising this appliance from its registration and his help so I could send it into the site.

Hi Pete,
Thanks for pulling this great photo from your archives. We now know of four of these interesting classic Leyland 5-section TLMs. How many more will surface? Possibly this one is still in preservation?

Oxford Diecast have just released a fine model of a Leyland TLM/Metz turntable ladder in there 1/76 scale. Its of a London Fire Brigade(LCC)appliance ordered on the 22nd May,1936,and delivered at the end of 1937.London recieved two new TL's in 1937,these were registered DGJ309,and DGJ310 and were numbered 21TLP,and 22TLP.The TL-DGJ309 went to Soho fire station in Shaftsbury Avenue, were as the other-DGJ310 first was allocated to the newly opened Lambeth Headquarters, but in 1938 was tranferred to Whitechapel and remained at that station for the rest of her service. The model is based on this appliance(DGJ310)and is a must for any collector of model fire appliances.
That reminds me,I must send a picture in of one of these LFB Leylands from the period(DGJ309)I photographed some years ago.
