There are 3 Bikes: 2 carry cutting & rescue equipment; another carries a water/foam jet and some medical equipment. This team is usually sent for Non-Fire Traffic & High rise incidents. They respond as one unit. These 3 Bike teams are located at Stations in cities and near highways with high traffic incidents.
They operate as 3 Bike/Man teams. 2 are equipped with portable cutting & rescue equipment; whilst the 3rd has a portable foam jet as well as medical equipment. The team is sent mostly to non-fire related traffic and building incidents. Teams are normally stationed at City Centre Stations or those near Highway interchanges.
Just to add - the Fire Bike Squads were set up because Rescue Tenders would struggle to get to incidents quickly in city centres and highways due to the High Traffic volumes. Thus the Fire Bikes would be first responders to tackle accidents until heavier tenders could arrive.
Bomba doesn't seem to know how the concept works. There was this documentary on TV3 and the firebikes were moving together with the tenders just like escort bikes. That totally defeats the purpose of fire bikes!!
