Fire Engines Photos

Thanks for the picture Lou, this is somthing I never thought I would see! I notice its badged as a Volvo F7 so assume its a lorry based machine. Do you know what engine is used?

Haha, not wishing to mock a very good picture but the Amercians seem to be using a toaster here as a fire appliance! i thought that was a thing that the UK was afflicted with!

Great picture and i have never seen a F7 as a fire appliance before, so thankyou very much for sharing this pic.

The F7 was the forerunner to the FL6, and yes, they were a lorry, i think the BHP was around 170 - 180 complete with Turbo, where as a typical British lorry of the same area had far less BHP and not a turbo !

Hiya guys! My name is Jim Hawryliw. Im the fire chief with Fairfield Hose Company in erie Pa. This is our tanker. When we bought this cab and chassis back in the 90s we never expected to keep it as long as we have. This picture above is the second refurb for this rig. We keep it for several reasons but the most important thing is that the way this rig drives and steers. You can do a complete circle on a two lane highway. This is very important for us for tanker operations etc.. Very nice truck for us. If anybody would like any further info please ask. Have a nice weekends.

Thanks for the information Jim, many of us in England don't like Volvos, for too many reasons to mention again! A few of us might end up eating our words though with your machine being through a refurb. There have been lots of rust problems in the UK with the truck based machines especialy on the chassis, thanks for the information though.

Volvo's are quite popular in the southern counties of the UK. All Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service's main engines are Volvo. They seem to work here better than a Scania or Dennis vehicle and there are no plans to change from Volvo for a while.
