2008 Sutphen Monarch Pumper
The city of Wilmington, North Carolina has long used Sutphen fire apparatus, which many consider to be the best built fire engines in North America. They're also the most expensive.
Engine 10 is built using a stainless steel and features a Caterpillar C13 Engine with Hale 1500 GPM pump. Notice the raised treadplates which cover the hosebed, a feature that many US departments have begun to specify as new apparatus are delivered.
Many subscribers may recall my previous postings of the Wilmington, (Delaware) Fire Department. Both departments are of equal size, both located along the Atlantic seaboard but are separated by 500 miles.
