Built for the Bristol Aeroplane Company Ltd. by Hampshire Car Bodies on a Thornycroft Nubian 6-wheel drive chassis first registered by Bristol in December 1962. The completed tender was delivered on 23rd March 1963.
28 RHY spent its entire working life at Filton in the role of Airfield Crash Tender. Among many incidents and notable occasions, this appliance attended the roll-out of 'Concorde 002' in Septmeber 1968 and stood by for the first flight of '002' on the 9th March 1969.
