Ambulance of the US President

This is the ambulance from the President of the United States of America. Where ever the President goes, this ambulance is part of the convoy. Unfortunately I do not know anything more about this ambulance.

Looks more like a SWAT team vehicle than an ambulance !! Doesnt seem to have a very long back for an ambulance.

I agree it looks more like a weapons carrier. I have seen two presidental motorcades and they are followed by local rescue units. we know how to get to the local trauma centers.

I took this photo in Vienna, Austria in 2006. It looks like a SWAT car but it is not. It is an ambulance. In this motorcade was also a local ambulance, but perhaps they do not trust the locals... I had a chance to see the rear door open, there was a stretcher and other medical equipment, unfortunately I was not able to take a photo.

It's a good photo of the vehicle.

The medical staff that support(s) the President are a mix of U.S Military and trained Secret Service. These support personnel are ridding in different vehicles in the motorcade as well. It is more likely that these vehicles will be placed at different intervals along the route, in order to keep them out of site. There are 4-6 in service at any one time. After Service, they are not re-sold, but scraped. Have also seen one when I was providing support for a Presidential Visit in Arizona. Pretty tight fit, but they serve the purpose very well. As far as knowing the local medical facilities and capabilities, these teams do in fact know them quite well. The contingency medical team, that is assigned to the US SS will have all these issue worked out and will have routes and plans in place for getting POTUS to the designated medical facility, prior to POTUS even leaving US Soil. They work very hard with the local authorities to ensure the plans work and these routes are practiced and drilled. Regardless of the nearest facility, there is usually only a few facilities that will be picked. Sometimes civilian services are contracted to follow the motorcade at the rear, but they are carefully screened and vetted prior to use and only used as a secondary means.
